StarCraft 2 2v2’s with the Captain

Record of Ladder Season games played with my friend Captain Miller (though he won’t say what he is a Captain of…)

Current Rank: Gold 14   Win/Loss: 56 / 56

3/1/2014

  • Theme: Take Those Wins and Run!
  • New Rank: 3 Gold
  • Old Rank: 8 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 3/1
  • Notes:
    • Just a couple of games (but very long games!)
    • Still need to work on scouting late game
    • Reapers very powerful every game; be careful!

2/26/2014

  • Theme: And Then it Becomes the not so Great Day…
  • New Rank: 6 Gold
  • Old Rank: 3 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 2/8
  • Notes:
    • I think I’m finally starting to get warn out from SC2 (not that I play THAT much)
    • Need to come up with some more definitive plans when playing, possibly some set strategies

2/25/2014

  • Theme: Not the Best Night, but No Rank Loss at Least!
  • New Rank: 3 Gold
  • Old Rank: 3 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 2/5
  • Notes:
    • Still many aspects we need to work on in our game
    • Scouting still needs work, as always
    • Make sure to keep up production and reinforcing during engagements (and that what is being built is helpful; no stalkers when zealots are better)

2/21/2014

  • Theme: Still Going Strong!
  • New Rank: 1 Gold
  • Old Rank: 2 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 5/1
  • Notes:
    • Still need to work on scouting in the late game (still surprised by some units mid to late game)
    • Always consider tech switching, don’t be complacent with one type of tech

2/20/2014

  • Theme: Solid Night, but Don’t Get Cocky Kid!
  • New Rank: 2 Gold
  • Old Rank: 7 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 4/1
  • Notes:
    • Still need to work on scouting and actively doing it, especially late game
    • Remember to send out units to scout enemy army before moving in to engage

2/19/2014

  • Theme: Cautiously Optimistic About 2’s
  • Featured Game!
  • New Rank: 7 Gold
  • Old Rank: 10 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 5/4
  • Notes:
    • Definitely some games we could of won, but overall pretty solid
    • Need to work on scouting in the late game
    • Check base for proxies 😦

2/18/2014

  • Theme: Stressful Night of 2’s
  • New Rank: 10 Gold
  • Old Rank: 5 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 3/8
  • Notes:
    • Pretty obvious that we are hitting a wall here
    • Probably need to start analyzing more games and being critical of game play
    • Was hoping to get in to platinum soon, but that’s the way it goes sometimes…

2/13/2014

  • Theme: Lots of 2’s this week! Decent night, but apparently not progress up
  • New Rank: 5 Gold
  • Old Rank: 5 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 3/2
  • Notes:
    • Some really long games tonight (3 of them were 25 minutes plus)
    • We lost to a team that just built marines and zealots, but… WHO JUST BUILDS MARINES AND ZEALOTS!?

2/12/2014

  • Theme: Alright, looking a bit better
  • New Rank: 5 Gold
  • Old Rank: 11 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 5/2
  • Notes:
    • Mines are difficult to play with
    • Seems safe to assume that Terrans will almost always go reapers…
    • Faced the same team twice that did the same cheese; did they think it would work better the second time?

2/11/2014

  • Theme: And then there are days like this…
  • New Rank: 11 Gold
  • Old Rank: 2 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 2/8
  • Notes:
    • Oh boy, what a day… not much to say
    • A good bit of playing former master’s players (who still seem to have a fair amount of skill left)
    • Need to work on when to expand (not easy to know)

2/7/2014

  • Theme: Solid Day of Golding
  • New Rank: 2 Gold
  • Old Rank: 16 Gold
  • Win/Loss: 6/2
  • Notes:
    • Looks like we can be somewhat competitive in gold
    • Why can’t all SC2 days go like this???

1/28/2014

  • Theme: We just got in to Gold League!
  • Game that lead to Gold Recap (less exciting than it sounds unfortunately)
  • New Rank: 16 Gold!
  • Old Rank: 23 Silver
  • Win/Loss: 2/1
  • Notes:
    • We finally got in to Gold League! (woot woot)
    • So, we get beat by a legit team and then beat a semi-okay team, and that appears to be the secret to getting in to gold!

1/21/2014

  • Theme: Rush like we only had 30 minutes to play!
  • New Rank: 3 Silver
  • Old Rank: 4 Silver
  • Win/Loss: 2/1
  • Notes:
    • We did actually only have 30 minutes to play
    • Squeezed in some quick just rush games

1/16/2014

  • Theme: Not 2 Bad
  • New Rank: 4 Silver
  • Old Rank: 10 Silver
  • Win/Loss: 3/3
  • Notes:
    • Work out some map specific strategies to play, and try to tailor strategies to specific maps
    • Considering rushing slightly later with higher tech units (stargate, robo)
    • Try to work in ghosts or reapers

1/14/2014

  • Featured Game
  • Theme: Some 2’s 2 Night
  • New Rank: 10 Silver
  • Old Rank: 25 Silver
  • Win/Loss: 4/2
  • Notes:
    • A pretty good night of 2’s
    • I’m still a bit confused about how to play some of the maps in terms of whether to be aggressive or expand early on
    • Need to keep moving up the tech tree as Protoss as the game progresses
    • Think about when to fall back and defend your ally versus using that opportunity to attack

1/13/2014

  • Theme: 2 Paris of 2’s
  • New Rank: Silver 25
  • Old Rank: Silver 47
  • Win/Loss: 2/2
  • Notes:
    • A bit tired today so I wasn’t exactly on point, but I’ll call 2/2 acceptable

1/11/2014

  • Theme: People Keep Crashin’ the 2’s party!
  • New Rank: Silver 25
  • Old Rank: Silver 47
  • Win/Loss: 1/1
  • Notes:
    • We weren’t able to get enough games in to say too much about them

1/9/2014

  • Featured Image
  • Theme: Trying to get back in the flow
  • Rank: Silver 47
  • Win/Loss: 3/2
  • Notes:
    • Not much to say, just trying to get back in to the swing of things
